Wed 1st April 
Star Gazing- spring watch

  • 8pm Dorridge Park As part of International Year of Astronomy, join our local experts as it’s the best time to see the first quarter of the moon and the planet Saturn. Beginners come along to find out more, bring your telescope if you have one. Supported by Knowle Astronomical Society. (One and a half hours)

Farmers’ Market – High Street – Solihull

Mon 6th April
Ranger Road Show

  • Mell Square, Solihull Town Centre 10am-3pm. An opportunity to find out more about our parks in Solihull and meet the Park Ranger Team. There’s lots of information and leaflets on everything from wildflowers to trees.

Mon 6th-10th April
Children’s Workshops

  • Parkridge Centre, Brueton Park 10am-12pm and 1pm-3pm. Lots of different sessions throughout the school holidays, there’s a different theme every day including Easter Egg decorating, Easter cards, life in the undergrowth, scrap heap challenge, brilliant birds and woodland explorers. £3 per child, £4 for non WWT members. Tues 7th April 11am
Art Animal Tracks

  • Palmers Rough, Northbrook Road entrance by play area Learn to identify different animal tracks and take a cast from their footprint. Track down our Park Ranger too! Bring an apron or overalls! Pre booking essential on 0121 704 8000. (approx 2hrs)

Wed 8th April
Easter Bonnet Making

  • Olton Jubilee Park 11am-1pm. Bring an old hat and some Easter themed objects with you and add some natural material from the park, to make your own floral Easter Bonnet to parade around in.

Fri 10th April
Easter Egg Hunt

  • Elmdon Park, Tanhouse Farm Road car park drop in from 11am-2pm. Join the Easter Bunny for a trip around the park to hunt out clues to solve the password and gain a chocolate egg! There are puppet shows at 11:30am, 12:30pm and 1:30pm and children’s rides and refreshments on site. Wear your Easter Bonnet and you may get a prize! Bring a pen! £1 per child for treasure hunt and puppet show – other attractions fares charged separately.

Nuts about Nature Club – Birds

Mon 13th April
Eggciting Easter Treats

  • Meriden Park, Chelmsley Wood 1-3pm. Hop along to a cracking craft activity in the park. Bring your Easter bonnet if you have one!

13th- 17th April

Scarecrow Making Day

  • Knowle Park from 10:30am. Design your own scarecrow, with the equipment list provided and join in the fun competition for the most creative scarecrow. Call 0121 704 8000 to obtain your equipment list of things to bring and to book your place. (One and a half hours)

Fri 17th April
River Walk

  • Meriden Park, 1pm from Ranger info point Stroll along the river from Meriden Park to Babbs Mill Local Nature Reserve with our local Park Ranger, spotting features along the way. Tea and biscuits on your return. Wear sensible shoes for all conditions. (2hr walk)

Sun 19th April
Dizzy Duck Race       

  • Babbs Mill Local Nature Reserve, 11am start. Boat House car park Name your duck and wish it luck as it races against your friends ducks along the river! The winner gets a prize. Join in the arts and craft activity beforehand. (One and a half hours)

Wed 22nd April
Orienteering in the Park

  • Hillfield Park, entrance off Brick Kiln Lane off Widney Lane 6:30pm-7:30pm. Take a taster session of this popular hobby with members of Solihull Orienteering Club who give you instructions on navigating around the park. The Orienteering Club charge £2-50 for adults and £1 for under 21's and students.

Pond Dipping

  • Marston Green Park 11am-1pm. Discover what lurks beneath the misty, muddy pond waters…what will you discover? It’s a mini beast heaven! Make your own mini beast badge to take home.

Bluebell Walk

  • Millison’s Wood, Albert Road It’s a fantastic sight, a carpet of bluebells – come and join the Park Rangers to see for yourself and discover some interesting facts about this popular wildflower. Look out for the other bluebell walk in early May in one of our less well known woodland areas. (One and a half hours approx)

Wed 29th April
Community Clean Up Action Day 2

  • Meriden Park 11am-3pm. Help conduct a clean up with the Park Rangers and Environmental Champions. Tasks may include litter picking, fence maintenance and graffiti clear up. Bring gloves and sturdy shoes along with overalls or old clothes and a packed lunch.
